Chessboxing

El chess boxing o ajedrez boxeo, es un deporte híbrido que combina el ajedrez y el boxeo. El concepto de este deporte había sido imaginado en 1992 por el dibujante de cómics Enki Bilal. Fue Iepe Rubingh quien llevó el concepto a la práctica en la primavera del 2003.

Un concepto parecido al chess boxing se había visto en la película Uuno Turhaparo - herra Helsingin herra, donde Uuno juega ajedrez contra una persona usando un sistema de manos libres y a la par boxea con otra persona.

 

 

 

Un encuentro entre 2 oponentes consiste en 11 rounds por los cuales se van alternando el boxeo y el ajedrez, empezando con 4 minutos de partida de ajedrez y seguido por 3 minutos de boxeo. Entre cada round hay una pausa de un minuto, durante las cuales los competidores cambian su vestimenta. La modalidad de ajedrez es la blitz, en las cuales los competidores disponen un total de 12 minutos. Los competidores pueden ganar por nocaut, jaque mate o una decisión tomada por los jueces cuando los 12 minutos de un oponente se han terminado.

El ajedrez boxeo es controlado por la Organización Mundial de Ajedrez Boxeo (WCBO, por sus siglas en inglés). El primer campeonato mundial tuvo lugar en Ámsterdam, en el 2003, el campeón fue Iepe Rubingh. El primer campeonato europeo de Chess boxing tuvo lugar en Berlín el primero de Octubre del 2005, en donde Tihomir Titschko, de Bulgaria derrotó al alemán Andreas Schneider.

 The chessboxing or Chess boxing is a hybrid sport that combines chess and boxing. The concept of the sport had been imagined in 1992 by cartoonist Enki Bilal. It was Iepe Rubingh who brought the concept to practice in the spring of 2003.

A concept similar to chess boxing had seen in the movie Uuno Turhaparo - Helsingin tool tool where Uuno playing chess against a person using a hands-free system and on par with someone else boxer.

An encounter between two opponents consists of 11 rounds in which alternating boxing and chess, starting with 4 minutes of chess game and followed by three minutes of boxing. Between each round there is a pause of a minute, during which competitors change their clothing. The mode is blitz chess, in which competitors have a total of 12 minutes. Competitors can win by knockout, checkmate or a decision made by the judges when an opponent 12 minutes are over.

 Chess boxing is controlled by the World Chess Boxing Organization (WCBO, for its acronym in English). The first world championship was held in Amsterdam in 2003, the champion was Iepe Rubingh. The first European Chess Boxing Championship took place in Berlin on the first of October 2005, where Tihomir Titschko of Bulgaria defeated German Andreas Schneider.
